Many people confuse Banfield's Wellness Plans with pet insurance, when in fact they are very different. Banfield offers what they call, Wellness Plans, that do cover some things like a comprehensive insurance plan does, but it is mainly focused on preventative medicine aspects.

These plans try to focus on preventing problems before they happen versus pet insurance, which only takes effect after your pet is sick.

Banfield offers plans for adult pets, puppies, and kittens. The main advantages of signing up for these plans is that routinely prescribed preventative care is packaged together for your pet at a much more affordable price.

Also, if your pet is on a plan, you get free office visits for life and additional discounts on other veterinary products and services.

Here are some benefits of signing your pet up for just a basic plan. Annual vaccinations are included as well at two comprehensive physical exams per year. Additionally, ear exams, heartworm, lyme, and ehrlichia tests are included as well as two fecal exams a year.

Regular deworming medication is included along with free interstate health certificates and blood exams too.

As you can see, many things are included in this plan, so it is somewhat similar to a comprehensive pet insurance plan in that aspect. But these Wellness plans do not pay for surgery, illnesses, or other more advanced procedures that pet insurance might.

Banfield promotes these services by claiming that these preventive care programs can help your pet live up to 25% longer.
