Older Pet Insurance, Pet Travel Insurance And Pet Liability Insurance

Older Pet Insurance, Pet Travel Insurance And Pet Liability Insurance

Older Pet Insurance
Some insurance companies do not insure pets over a certain age and others charge higher premiums or have additional limitations to coverage. Breed-specific conditions are most likely to surface as a pet gets older, and these conditions are typically excluded from policies.

Pet Travel Insurance
Most pet insurance companies allow pet owners to go to any licensed veterinarian in the U.S. If a pet owner has insurance, then it does not matter if the pet is injured at home or on vacation in another state. Insurance companies typically do not reimburse for medical expenses incurred outside the U.S. (though some include Canada). Check with your provider for details.

Pet Liability Insurance
Pet liability insurance is recommended for pet owners who have pets that are known for biting or causing harm to other people. Some landlords require renters with certain types of dogs such as pit bulls to have this type of coverage as part of their renter's insurance. Pet liability insurance is available through insurers such as State Farm and can be added onto a home owner's or renter's insurance policy.
